Gentle(wo)men, start your TV’s

hizKNITS

See this here messenger bag? I’ll be knitting it on Knitty Gritty. The episode I taped last December will air on HGTV on July 16, 7:00am ET/PT.

This time next week I’ll be cringing in front of the TV. All you East Coasters will have already seen it. I don’t know how it works for those in the middle of the US (do you have electricity? ). Us West Coasters will have 15 more minutes before it starts.

You’ve been warned.

*sigh* Now if only it would come out on DVD so the cable/satellite-challenged among us can get it from Netflix.

OK, how cute are you?? I sit down with my coffee and toast, turn on the TV and see that TiVo is recording something and it’s YOU! You look great and relaxed…presenting your techniques and ideas wonderfully! Congratulations. I might have to make this bag for the shop! I’m so thrilled that I “know” you! He he he!

OH, and by the way, we don’t get it on HGTV, we get it on DYI here.

great knitty gritty episode! thats a very good project and it’s not like overly niche or complicated :) I love the show but rarely do I see anything made I would actually knit myself…but I would knit that messenger bag..infact…I might add it to my list of future projects.

any tips on how to get a man to knit? I’ve gotten my man to the point where he asks me to knit him things [and is getting very specific about what he wants not, 'can i have another hat' but 'can you make me a hat that looks like this lil slime monster from my videogame?' accompanied by a very specific colour choice] but so far i’ve not faired well on the would you like to try it aspect :P

    Hey Steven,
I just saw you showing off the messenger’s bag on Knitty Gritty & knitting. I think it great that a guy knits. It sort of like knitting return to the guys that taught it first a long time ago.Anyway, I thought that bag that was showing on Knitting Gritty would be a great knitter’s bag also, not just a messengers’s bag. So I hoping to get some printer ink soon then print that pattern off. Well anyway, I was wondering if it ok to put your site on my knitter list of sites in my site called Sugar’s Gifs?

    Hi there ~

I found the pattern for this messenger bag on the DIY website, and I’m very much looking forward to knitting it once I can get my hands on some good yarn. However, I’m a little bit confused about one thing: The pattern calls for 4 balls of MC1 and only 1 ball of MC2, although the seem to be knit together through very nearly the entire project.

Is this a typo in the pattern? Or is there something in the pattern I’m not understanding correctly? I’d really hate to buy the yarn as listed and discover that it’s insufficient, but I also don’t want to buy way too much.

    Thanks,
    Shannon
