Don't give in - give up the Jaywalkers. The next thing you know, you'll be making a Clapotis. Seriously, think about it this way - if they have little stretch now, they'll have little resiliency to stay on your calves after you wash 'em.

Take on a Nancy Bush Pattern instead!

Been there, knit the very same pattern and I frogged too. It never dawned on me that I'd need around 20 stitches more than for regular socks. I happily knit away, even did the heel. Ahem.

No! Don't give up on the JayWalkers! My first try was with the smaller size and that didn't even go over my foot, so I frogged and reknitted with 84 stitches instead (on 2.5 mm dpns)...I just finished them and they're a bit hard to get over the ankle, but otherwise fit perfectly. And now I'm making another pair.

Try <a href="http://www.grumperina.com/jaywalkbigger.htm" rel="nofollow">THIS LINK</a>, maybe it'll help you. :-)

Hi - I followed the link from LnV to get here! I saw your picture earlier today on Vicki Howell's blog, from your appearance on Knitty Gritty. Have a happy New Year, and good luck with the Jaywalkers. I'm too chicken to try!

OH, how liberating ripping a difficult project is. I had a lace project that was giving me severe headaches, I had gone so wrong, but kept plowing forward. After ripping it out, I felt do liberated.

And speaking of drinking, while writing this comment each time I typed "liberating" I mis-spelled it as liverating. Get it, liver - ating/drinking! LOL

If yarn allows it, I would go up one needle size first. Bigger needle size and same amount of stitches will produce a pair socks faster ;).
